Датчане начали с последнего заезда на Винсон и поднялись на высшую точку Антарктиды 22 января. К этой поездке логично привязывается Аконкагуа (Южная Америка), вершина которой была достигнута 6 февраля. Затем датчане дважды слетали в Австралию. Сначала на прогулку на Костюшко, затем в самолетно-вертолетную экспедицию на пирамиду Карстенз. Не составила сложностей африканская Килиманджаро, на которую друзья успели забраться до наступления сезона дождей, в начале марта.
Очень приятно, что планы уже второй пары рекордоманов ломает наш Эльбрус. Предыдущие рекордсмены ирландцы Ян Мак-Кивер и его гид Дэйв Притт не смогли взойти на высшую вершину Европы в марте. Такая же подножка случилась и с датчанами. Две их попытки 25 и 26 марта закончились неудачами. Это существенно подкосило их проект, так как они мечтали проскочить в апреле на Мак-Кинли.
8 мая Эльбрус разрещил упорным датчанам побывать у себя на вершине. Но теперь пришлось идти на Эверест с акклиматизацией на уровне базового ллагеря. Но с кислородом это возможно, и 25 мая Кристиансен и Смидт стояли на высшей вершине планеты. После этого был спринт вниз и перелет на другую сторону планеты. Погода в этом году не балует и на Аляске, холодно и снежно. Здесь даже в благоприятный сезон дуют страшной силы ветра и мороз доходит до минус 30. График восхождения был нарушен. Но мотивация датских альпинистов оказалась сильнее. Рекорд был сделан.
Хенрику Кристианссену 43 года. Женат, сыну 18, дочери - 11. Он - успешный бизнесмен, живущий в городе Ольберг. Инженер-электронщик по образованию, круг его бизнес-интересов общирен, но на первом месте стоит "софт". Альпинизмом увлекался с детства, но только теоретически: читал книги, собирал вырезки из газет. Однако реально стал ходить в горы лишь недавно, когда бизнес развился до размеров, когда волноваться за него уже поздно.
Сёрен Смидт говорит, что проходит путь в другом направлении. Сейчас ему 47 лет, женат, дочь, живет в Копенгагене. Фанатик-альпинист в молодости, Смидт достиг неплохих результатов в спорте и известен в датском альпинистском мире как тренер, гид, инструктор. Окончил ENSA в Шамони, гид UIAGM, 20 лет он провел в поездках по миру и восхождениях.
